Six Degree of Freedom Program (SIXD)©
The Six Degree of Freedom Program (SIXD)© is a trajectory simulation code used to predict and evaluate the translational and angular motion of a vehicle during powered and free flight. It can be used to predict the reentry path, pitch, and roll histories of the vehicle. A 3-D option is available for simplified problems.
The capabilities of this code include nonlinear aerodynamic coefficients, center of gravity offset, and thrust misalignments. The code also accounts for center of gravity and moment of inertia changes resulting from expended propellant. SIXD allows user-defined subroutines into which an analyst can input various forcing functions and can output additional response parameters.
